If you have been involved in a bicycle collision with a driver, bicyclist or pedestrian, you don’t want an inexperienced personal injury lawyer, and you certainly don’t want an attorney who dabbles in all kinds of accident law. You need an experienced cyclist to represent you in your bicycle personal injury case. Many attorneys claim to focus on representing injured cyclists, but I not only know bicycle law, I am an avid cyclist like you. I bike commute. I know the streets. And I know our rights and responsibilities.
While the number of cyclists riding in Washington is growing exponentially, the number of aggressive and inattentive drivers is growing as well. Drivers are more distracted than ever with texting, talking on the phone and hurrying to get to their destination. Watching out for cyclists seems to be a low priority. Whether you were doored, right-hooked, left-hooked, rear-ended or just plain cut off, I'm on your side and will fight for you.
During the last 25 years, I have been a daily bike commuter, a bike messenger, bike racer, family cyclist and utility cyclist in Washington. Logging thousands of hours in the saddle is what makes me so passionate about working with fellow cyclists! Many attorneys handle a broad range of personal injury cases. I started my solo practice to focus on representing injured bicyclists in Seattle and Spokane. Since 2007, I've been representing bikers who have sustained serious injuries like broken bones, traumatic brain injuries, fractured teeth and facial scarring. As a former competitive athlete in both mountain bike racing and gymnastics, I'm uniquely qualified to represent injured athletes, particularly cyclists, who want nothing more than to get back to being active.
As an avid cyclist, I know what arguments to make to prove liability for your case. Most of the time drivers claim they didn’t see the cyclist, but not seeing a cyclist who is there to be seen is not an excuse. The driver is still liable. If you did not come into contact with the vehicle but you had to swerve to avoid a driver who cut you off, the driver is still liable. If your attorney doesn't ride a bike, he or she may not know what arguments to make to prove liability for your case. Hiring an expert in Washington cycling laws is vital to proving your case and maximizing the value of your recovery.
If you have been injured in a bicycle accident, give me a call or send me an email for a free consultation. We can talk about the facts of the collision and I can answer your questions and provide you with guidance on whether you would benefit from representation or not. I am available to talk and I do not charge a fee unless I recover for your case.
Experience counts!! I am rated 10/10 as a "Superb" attorney on Avvo.com based on objective ranking criteria including experience, industry recognition and professional achievements. You can also check out my numerous five-star client reviews on Avvo, Yelp and Google.
If you're injured while riding your bike, contact me as soon as possible so I can help you avoid damaging your case.
I work on a contingency fee basis. This means my fee is a percentage of the amount I recover for you. You are not "charged" every time you want to call or email me and I encourage frequent contact so I can better represent you. No recovery = no fee.
From the moment I am hired to work on your case, I track down insurance coverage to pay for your medical bills, lost wages and damaged bike and gear. I handle all of the insurance company phone calls. I investigate your case personally including visiting the scene of the collision, talking with witnesses and gathering documentary evidence like the police report and your medical records and bills. Having an attorney on your side from the beginning of your case lets you focus on recovering from your injuries, knowing that every aspect of your legal claim is being handled by a professional, knowledgeable, compassionate attorney who has your best interest in mind.
I fractured my tailbone and suffered some other injuries after being hit by a car this summer while riding my bike. After receiving some misleading communication from the at-fault party's insurance, I contacted a few attorneys for some perspective. Stacie was the only attorney I spoke with who clearly took the time to understand my concerns, walk me through my options, and explain the insurance and legal jargon to me. Our initial phone consultation lasted almost an hour--Stacie was patient, informative, and kind even before I hired her as my attorney. She even met with me in my home because I was unable to travel due to my injuries at the time. Throughout the process, Stacie was extremely honest in giving me perspective on my case and helping me understand my rights. She was always quick to respond to questions or confusion I had about the claim process and made sure I was getting the treatments I needed to manage my pain and heal my injuries. She definitely became a friend and mentor during my healing process. Stacie connects with her clients on a human level and fights hard for them to ensure they get the compensation and clarity they deserve. I respect her strong bicycle advocacy and appreciate her supportive professional working style. Thank you, Stacie!

I was recommended to Stacie after I was run over by a Metro bus whilst riding my bike, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Before I hired her, I attempted to handle the claim myself and it was a complete nightmare. Metro was putting all the burden of recovery on me and made me continually jump through hoops in order to frustrate me and make me go away. Dealing with them was like having a part time job in of itself.
When I decided it was time for professional help, a friend recommended Stacie to me and she lifted all the burden of the accident off my shoulders. Working with her allowed me to focus on my physical recovery and gave me time to get back to normal life. Any loop Metro threw at me from that point forward was no longer my problem. Stacie handled all their BS for me.
Due the length of time for my physical recovery, I was with Stacie for quite some time. Throughout the process Stacie gave me consistent updates on her side of things. She would also check in on recovery and helped defer payment with a practitioner until after I had received my settlement.
Besides her legal skills, Stacie is also very kind and was genuinely concerned for my wellbeing through the process. If you are in any sort of bicycle related accident in Seattle, I don't think there is any better Lawyer to represent you than Stacie. You won't regret it!

There is no way to overstate the proficiency, the caring attitude, or the genuine advocacy I received at the hands of Ms. Bain. Several years ago, someone ran a red light and plowed into my car, causing me brain damage, multiple injuries and rendering me virtually unable to cope. When counselors ruled my condition PTSD, but therapy wasn't really addressing my brand new emotional discontrol, it was Stacie that realized I had a TBI, and that I needed to see some specialists. I am not the person I was, but I can now function at a much higher capacity than I could before my lawyer, of all people, helped me get the care I needed. Besides that, my case settled without my ever having to testify, saving me a lot of stress and scrutiny that would no doubt be incredibly difficult for me - and awarding me the policy limit that will allow me (someone with only catastrophic insurance) to afford to continue to seek treatment and not go into debt.
Stacie was there every step of the way, often emailing me or calling me just to see how I was doing. I can honestly say that I feel like she saved my life.
THIS IS THE LAWYER YOU WANT ON YOUR SIDE.

I, like many other people, had a negative perception of attorneys before I hired Stacie Bain. I saw them as a necessary evil, but evil none the less. Her handling of two cases for me has completely changed that perception. At all times she worked for my best interests and made sure I understood all my options in a clear and concise manner. Stacie negotiated skillfully and firmly with insurance companies, medical providers, and the state to get the best outcome for me. I am not an easy client to work with, Stacie maintained a compassionate demeanor with me throughout the process. I would highly recommend her as an attorney.

I was incredibly pleased with Stacie's knowledge, skill, handling, and communication. I also felt like she really cared about me and my story and how the accident affected my life. She is very personable, yet very professional. When you call, she answers the phone, and will talk to you, unlike most lawyers, to whom you must first go through several layers of secretaries and paralegals. She worked with me and guided me through a process over two years that led to a successful arbitration outcome. I highly recommend Stacie Bain if you have been injured in a bike accident.

I'm so glad she represented me. First, because she won - I got a much larger settlement than I thought I would, and I think that's because Stacie genuinely cared. Secondly, because mine wasn't an easy case. I was hit by a driver that ran, and tracking them down - and then their insurance company - took a lot of doing. But Stacie took the case anyway and overcame the obstacles, which is why I have a settlement at all. Thirdly, because of her compassion. I met with her months after the accident but my emotions were still raw. The last thing I wanted was to feel like I was being victimized again, or treated as just another number. Stacie also kept me informed about the case and her work on it, and I always felt like I was being treated with care, and like a human being.
She didn't just get me a settlement. She made me feel like I deserved justice, and, now that it's settled, like justice was done. I can't thank her enough.
