The Bike Lawyer Difference

If you have been involved in a bicycle collision with a driver, bicyclist or pedestrian, you don’t want an inexperienced personal injury lawyer, and you certainly don’t want an attorney who dabbles in all kinds of accident law. You need an experienced cyclist to represent you in your bicycle personal injury case.  Many attorneys claim to focus on representing injured cyclists, but I not only know bicycle law, I am an avid cyclist like you. I bike commute.  I know the streets.  And I know our rights and responsibilities.

Getting hit while riding is traumatic.  Getting your damages paid shouldn't add more trauma or stress to your life.  If you got hit by a car while riding your bike, the at-fault driver's insurance company and its defense lawyers will try to blame you for the collision and will minimize the nature and extent of your injuries.  The best thing you can do to reduce your anxiety, protect yourself and maximize your compensation is to hire an experienced bike lawyer to work on your case for you.  As an avid cyclist, I know what arguments to make to prove liability for your case, especially when the at-fault driver claims they didn't see you or that you were not riding safely.  Not seeing a cyclist who is there to be seen is not an excuse.  The driver is still liable.  If you did not come into contact with the vehicle but you had to swerve to avoid a driver who cut you off and crashed while doing so, the driver is still liable.  Hiring an expert in Washington cycling laws is vital to proving your case and maximizing the value of your recovery.

Many attorneys claim to be bike lawyers, but most are just occasional riders who have no idea what it's like to regularly ride in traffic.  During the last 30 years, I have been a daily bike commuter, a bike messenger, bike racer, family cyclist and utility cyclist in Washington.  I've worked in bike shops, I've ridden professionally and I support our cycling community through legislative activism and monetary sponsorships.  Logging thousands of hours in the saddle and being part of the biker tribe is what makes me so passionate about working with my fellow cyclists!  If your attorney doesn't ride a bike, he or she may not know what arguments to make to prove liability for your case and may not understand why you want to get back in the saddle as soon as possible.  I encourage my clients to work hard on their recovery so they can get back to riding.  As a former competitive cyclist and gymnast, I understand how devastating an injury can be when you want nothing more than to get back to being active.

Whether you were doored, right-hooked, left-hooked, rear-ended or just plain cut off, it's important to have an advocate who will fight for you.  If you have been injured in a bicycle accident in Seattle or Spokane, give me a call at (800) 555-4246 or send me an email below to set up a free consultation.  We can talk about the facts of the collision and discuss liability.  I will answer your questions about the insurance process and provide you with guidance on whether you could benefit from representation.  I can also provide some free self-help if you want to manage your case on your own.  I am available to talk and I do not charge a fee for the initial consultation.  And I don't charge a fee unless I recover for your case.

Experience counts!!  Take a look at my numerous five-star client reviews on my Client Testimonials page so you can hear first-hand from my former clients about their experience working with me.
